A new editor
.Im
extremely happy to introduce Margaret Kardos, MS, OTR/L, ATP, the new editor
of the ConnSENSE Bulletin. Muncie is an occupational therapist,
assistive technology practitioner.and is the parent of a child with a disability.
She has experience working with students in public schools, including students
with autism and other significant disabilities. In the area of transition planning
she specializes in designing
adaptations
to include students with low-incidence disabilities in school, community, and
the work place as well as to increase functional independence in activities
of daily living. Muncie has presented locally and nationally on topics surrounding
transition planning, particularly in the area of transition planning assessment
for students with developmental disabilities.
Muncie has an undergraduate degree in occupational therapy from the University of Hartford and a post-professional masters degree in occupational therapy from the University of New Hampshire where she completed a graduate level program in assistive technology. Presently, she is a second year doctoral student in special education at the University of Connecticut and a graduate assistant at the A. J. Pappanikou Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities.
In addition to adding articles, resources, review, etc., I'm showing Muncie some of the fun things we can do with HTML and how to add material to the website. I'm extremely impressed with her skills and enthusiasm. Recently Muncie set up a booth at the NEAT Expo while I was unavailable. She was able to add more new ConnSENSE Letter subscribers than I had earlier at the SERC Expo. There may be a message in that.
Another Change
When there were ConnSENSE Conferences we instituted a ConnSENSE Hall of Fame. Some illustrios professionals and companies were honored from 1993 Laureatte Learning Systems to 2000 Lee McLean. After 2000 the Conferences came to an end. I plan to renew the ConnSENSE Hall of Fame. Seems to me we don't need a conference to honor people and companies that have been extremely important to ConnSENSE. So look forward to more inductions to the Hall of Fame this year;.
