Start early and refer more:
If you are not confident and are not good at Chemistry, start early. Start studying early so that you have enough time to revise. Be thorough with the textbook concepts but it is better to have a reference book apart from the textbook. You can refer to the chemistry solutions book to find relevant answers to chapter questions.
Attendance:
Attend all the chemistry lectures and do not skip your homework. Doing your homework will help you stay up to date with the topics taught on a daily basis. Also, be regular for the chemistry practical class. Participate and perform the experiment in the lab to understand the different chemicals used for various experiments and try to write the chemical equation. For instance, Displacement reaction – displacement of one halogen by another halogen. The chemical equation can be:
Cl2(aq) + NaBr(aq) ⟶NaCl(aq) + Br2(aq)
Take your time:
Do not rush and hurry to finish the chapters. Understanding the scientific concepts, theory, chemical reactions, experiment, chemical equations is important. If you are unable to understand the concepts, clarify your doubts by discussing it with your teacher.
Say yes to assignments:
Solve the assignments by yourself. The theoretical and numerical questions will help you be thorough with the concepts. Also, you will realise your weak spots.
Clarity of concepts:
While you solve your assignment or homework, you will come across a few difficult topics. Clarify the doubts with your friends or chemistry lecturer. Group studies might help you in clarifying doubts with your friends.
Question papers:
Collect previous year question papers and solve it with a timer. You will be able to track your speed. Solving question papers will boost your confidence as you will be aware of the type of questions that you have to face in the final chemistry exam.
