Description: The Advancement Communications team consists of writers, designers, strategists, and creators with a passion to engage and persuade donors to invest in the work of Emory. As a contributor to this team, this role will support efforts to capitalize on video and photography to create meaningful touchpoints with alumni and donors. They will also understand digital storytelling and have experience in each phase of the production process (storyboarding, shooting, and editing) as well as creating text and motion graphic elements for projects. This position will report to the Director of Multimedia Production. JOB DESCRIPTION: Guides the marketing and communications efforts of Advancement and Alumni Engagement. Develops strategic communications, branding, brand management, and marketing strategy development for strategic initiatives. Develops and creates programs, special event advertising, program materials, proposals, marketing kits, social media, and other communication materials that support division strategic goals, broadens exposure, or promotes the image/brand. Develops and creates effective methods for marketing strategies and distributing communication materials and information. May train others in the use of communications technology. Works with external vendors. Monitors project budgets. Performs related responsibilities as required. ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS: In addition to the duties outlined above, the Associate Director may be required to: Execute video shoots including audio and camera operation and handle assignments requiring special lighting, multiple locations, creativity, special audio needs, talent management, and custom graphics and animation Contributes photo, video, and digital content to help manage websites or social media presence for division/clients Shoot and edit still photographs, including touch-ups, color correction, and re-sizing Perform video post-production tasks, including reviewing footage, making editorial decisions, logging, rough cuts, audio adjustment, color correction, adding photographs, motion graphics, animation, audio and music, captions and final edits Generate creative ideas and crafting visual solutions to translate concepts into video or still photograph by collaborating with internal partners Present and deliver visual concepts (storyboards) to high-level stakeholders and creating positive interactions with external (donors, grateful patients, alumni and university friends) and internal audiences (faculty, staff, and university leadership) Understand preferences/requirements for multi-channel video (websites, social media, email) Recommends new video support systems and hardware and software technologies based on analysis of college needs Stays informed about the current state of and future advances in video production technology and video distribution and translate into effective creative strategies. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A bachelor’s degree and three years of professional experience journalism, communications and marketing, higher education, non-profit, or related environment, OR an equivalent combination of experience, education and/or training. PREFERRED QULAIFICATIONS: Successful candidates will possess strong videography, photography, and motion graphics skills in addition to strong writing and editing skills. Experience in digital storytelling, philanthropic, advancement, donor recognition, alumni engagement, non-profit, or a university setting. Experience working audio, video, and lighting technologies including strong software skills in Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, and Illustrator as well as general knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite. Advanced knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite, mass email applications, database and project management software, web reporting/analysis, and CRM systems. Strong organizational, interpersonal and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and navigate a complex work environment. Commitment to delivering excellent Customer service, the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively, and comfort working with ambiguity. Possess a high level of professionalism and commitment to confidentiality with sound judgment and discretion. Flexibility to accommodate changing priorities and deadlines. NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs.
