|Job Description :||The Content Strategist is an adept digital communicator and leader who leads social media and all digital communications content efforts for Springfield College. The position serves as the lead role in the management and coordination of engaging social media campaigns that showcase all of the college’s programming on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, and other relevant social media channels. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, passionate, and driven; with experience in and innovative ideas about content generation for social media platforms and the website and an understanding of higher education marketing communications. This position requires expert social media capability and versatility across an array of media platforms and web tools. This role requires a strategic thinker and doer who uses consumer analytics to inform developing strategies and compelling content to engage all key College stakeholders (internal and external) to build brand loyalty, drive website traffic, inspire action, and increase brand awareness. Working in close collaboration with department leadership and with directors and managers in campus departments, the content strategist plans, designs, creates, edits, and publishes relevant content in alignment with the College’s mission and strategic goals and vision. This position is critical to supporting the College’s strategic growth priorities, such as increased enrollment and engagement for the institution.Responsibilities include: Acting as the social media director for primary College accounts; recognizing the importance and growing role of social media and digital engagement targeting multiple audiences over many and growing distribution channels. Planning, developing original content, implementing, managing, monitoring, and upgrading social media content and platforms based on trends, best practices and College goals. Providing monthly analytical reporting, conducting regular social media listening, and day-to-day engagement with the community through these platforms.Direct the planning, communication, and execution of all web content projects that come into the Office of Communication and ensure content is current and relevant. Work with the Triangle Editorial team to create year-round content in a digital format and distribute print material in a digital sphere. Work in collaboration with all members of the staff to share information, manage web content projects, consult on campaigns, and support an integrated approach to all campaigns and initiatives; including develop and write original content that fits brand messaging and voice of the college and completing updates for the website.Act as lead liaison and project manager for undergraduate digital advertising partners; and providing and curating digital assets. Advise as needed with graduate and nontraditional digital advertising.Prepare and manage content and creation of branded promotional emails for admissions and other various departments. Proactively working with departments to create new campaigns and marketing initiatives based on the departments’ needs.Advise, support, and carry out campaigns with social media across campus, with emphasis on assigned Divisions and working directly with the Vice Presidents and Directors. Monitor activity and maintain consistent branding and best practices across campus accounts.Assist the Producer/Director of Multimedia Content with the creation, concept and follow through of video and photography content project shoots. Serves as a key member of a video team to brainstorm and execute marketing concepts for the college.Advise, guide and manage the student (interns and work study students) population in digital marketing efforts. Working directly with students to determine their marketability within our department, including collaborating and directing their efforts in student-to-student communications (e.g. Takeovers). Extending social media liaison work, assist student-led organizations, counsel and act as a general reference for students interested in pursuing a career in digital communications and best practices on personal social media profiles when entering the workplace.Requirements:Bachelor’s in Communications, journalism, public relations, new media, or related field3-5 years related experience, preferably in higher education.Expert writing and proofreading/editing skills; excellent oral and written communication skillsHigh-level photography, videography, photo and video editing skillsAdvanced understanding and knowledge of social media, content management systems; and digital asset management systems.Flexibility is required. Expectation to check social media outside of traditional work hours and may be required to attend events where they will capture photos or video content. Also, includes period of high volume/work load, during the College’s high activity season for new content development; events, such as homecoming and commencement.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to prioritize tasks, understand and able to execute all facets of being a successful project manager and develop a work flow that integrates with that of the communications team.Ability and comfortable to develop and implement original content on the website, social media, email marketing, and print materials. This role serves as the department’s main contact for social media for departments across the campus and regional campuses and may be asked to provide training to department contacts.Ability to generate and provide reports on data across all social media platforms and highlighting changes over multiple periods of time; and being able to understand the information needed for departments, specifically to execute manipulated reports for presentations.Ability to effectively use the Internet, manage time, and adapt and move between multiple projects while working with deadlines. Ability to think creatively and use interpersonal communication and negotiation skills.Ability to handle and defuse difficult situations to the best of their ability before bringing in other team members.
