|Job Description :||Ozarks Food Harvest Job Description Position title: Communications SpecialistDepartment: Development & CommunicationsReports to: Director of Development & CommunicationsJob Summary: This position develops and implements communications to promote awareness, understanding and engagement of Ozarks Food Harvest’s mission by using a variety of communication and fundraising methods. The Communication Specialist will develop written communication materials in order to promote Ozarks Food Harvest to the community, continuing to position the organization as the hunger-relief expert in southwest Missouri. This position will provide content for quarterly newsletters, social media, email communications, monthly donor acknowledgement letters, direct mail thank you letters, special correspondence, the website and other print and digital pieces as needed. The Communication Specialist must possess tremendous attention to detail, a high level of communication and the ability to work well with a team.Responsibilities: Communication – Strategize and write organization’s major communication pieces used in fundraising, including:Harvest Time quarterly newsletters for financial donors, food donors and volunteers, First Monday Memo monthly newsletter for major supporters and key community leadersDonor acknowledgements (thank you letters) or appeals for monthly donors, food donors, volunteers, drive hosts, direct mail campaign donors and othersMonthly stories for the website (volunteer and agency spotlights)Food bank handouts, one-sheets, backgrounders, presentation materials, etc.Write copy for all social media posts for Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and respond to messagesIn conjunction with the Digital Marketing Specialist, strategize and write content for email communications and eAppealsWork in partnership with event staff on all major fundraising and awareness events. Write copy for event materials and fundraising campaigns, such as Giving TuesdayCollect testimonials, develop storylines and write copy for videos. Must be willing to travel (day trips) within service area, as requiredManage, update and write content for Ozarks Food Harvest’s website through WordPress, in partnership with the Art DirectorManage Ozarks Food Harvest’s Gmail account, including timely response to messages and inquiresMaintain and update external profiles, such as Google My BusinessAct as a gatekeeper of communication materials to ensure consistent stats, messaging and tonePosition Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in communication, journalism or similar area of study requiredThree years of progressive experience in communications with demonstrated track record for success required.Creative thinker and innovator with proven ability to provide compelling communication resulting in desired behaviorsExceptional written and oral communication skills; writing must be top-notch; ability to persuasively communicate key concepts is necessary; strong interpersonal skillsAbility to consistently, reliably and accurately establish and meet challenging deadlines while handling multiple priorities and exhibiting behaviors that motivate others; able to influence and manage change in a positive mannerFlawless attention to detail in development of programs, dissemination of information and creation of communication toolsSolid editing and project management skills as well as proficiency in all Microsoft programsExperience with email platforms and social media requiredWordPress management experience a plusAbility to work independently and without direction, both managing and executing programsAbility and passion to work as part of the development and communication teamAble to demonstrate expert understanding of organization and missionMust be physically able to lift 25-50 pounds and setup for organization events/press activitiesExpected to work outside normal business hours when neededTo apply, please email cover letter and resume to Jennifer Sickinger at jsickinger @ ozarksfoodharvest.org.
