Job Description : TITLE: Copywriter FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt REPORTS TO: Consumer Marketing Manager & Commercial Marketing Manager SUPERVISES: None TRAVEL: None DEPARTMENT: Marketing JOB PURPOSE: The Woodland Foods Copywriter is responsible for creating and editing engaging, clear, and on-brand copy for Woodland Foods and the company’s own brands: Curious Spoon, DG, and Woodland Ingredients as well as private label products. A successful team member will play a fundamental role in content communication standards development and strategy and will have the ability to utilize market research to produce creative concepts and copy targeting specific audiences. The goal of this position is to drive company, brand, and product awareness and increase customer engagement and company sales through compelling, strategic copy content. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Fully understand the company’s brand strategies and target audiences. Create, adjust, and fully understand guidelines for brand voice, tone, and writing style to match each of the company’s own brands. Monitor all copy content and ensure brand voice and style guidelines are being implemented. Create relevant resources and trainings for copy communication standards that can be shared across the company to ensure consistency and improve the ability of the company and each brand to speak with one voice. Interpret creative and technical information and create persuasive, informational, or engaging copy content that is clear and error free and is written in the appropriate brand voice. Content includes, but is not limited to: Product descriptions and points of interest, website content, blogs, social media content, email marketing content, sales presentation content, marketing collateral content, press releases, supplier stories, company reports, forms and surveys, newsletters, and video scripts. Proofread and edit existing copy to align with company guidelines and brand voice. Content requiring proofreading and copy oversight includes, but is not limited to: product artwork, recipes, existing website content, employee created content, third-party created content. Conduct market and product research. Write and share applicable reports. Understand Search Engine Optimization (SEO) strategies and write content tailored towards appropriate keywords, tone, style, and readability to organically elevate company content online. SECONDARY FUNCTIONS: Perform other marketing tasks and duties, as assigned Special projects as assigned SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS: 3+ years copywriting experience College degree in related field (e.g., English, Marketing, Communications) or equivalent experience with above-standard proof-reading skills Experience writing and proofreading content for print and digital channels Ability to effectively tailor writing to different brands and audiences Experience with Search Engine Optimization (SEO) concepts and social media content writing preferred Creativity, adaptability and the ability to think critically Candidate should have experience producing copy for advertising and marketing campaigns, with a strong ability to tailor content for the intended brand and audience.
