We are seeking a Marketing Proposal Writer & Specialist in our DC Metro office. This position will lead the development of qualification statements, proposals and presentation materials in the pursuit of new project opportunities; coordinating pursuit team involvement as well as handling the writing, editing and graphic layout of the documents in the pursuit of new business relationships and project opportunities. Position Summary This position will prepare and develop regional qualification statements, proposals and presentation materials in the pursuit of new project opportunities; coordinating pursuit team involvement as well as handling the writing, editing and graphic layout of the documents in the pursuit of new business relationships and project opportunities. This individual will also work alongside the Corporate Integrated Marketing Manager to craft the region’s marketing plan, objectives and tactics. Partnering directly with the regions business unit leader, the regional business development representative and the corporate marketing team the specialist will help define opportunities for storytelling, collateral development, digital marketing, thought leadership, video development, photography, and more. These efforts will directly impact the local brand equity measurement and opportunities for new projects in the region. Basic Duties & Responsibilities Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Craft project pursuit deliverables including qualification statements, proposals and presentation materials by coordinating pursuit teams and writing, editing and graphic layout of the documents. Lead the development of winning proposals by writing, editing and rewriting technical narratives received from multiple subject matter experts (SMEs) as well as designing graphically appealing documents. Make recommendations on compelling “win” themes and strategies-based on knowledge and information about the region and/or prospective client-to most effectively and creatively respond to requests for proposals. Manage content from multiple SMEs while ensuring consistency, clarity and maintaining “one voice” as well as document configuration management and control. Improve the readability and clarity of text by using active voice and concise, clear language while minimizing jargon. Work collaboratively with pursuit teams, demonstrating commitment to each project and working effectively to get the job done under all circumstances; ensuring that proposals meet client format specifications and stated deadlines. Lead the development of marketing deliverables such as brochures, social/digital posts, presentations and other collateral materials to generate visibility and awareness of the company in the marketplace. Work to continuously improve the creativity and effectiveness of marketing services and deliverables as well as use corporate templates to ensure brand consistency. Support the business development and marketing outcomes of the company through a variety of other activities, including corporate events. As needed, develop PowerPoint, leave-behind or other presentation materials for oral interviews. Develop a strong working knowledge of the company’s project portfolio and staff resources. Get to know the “personality” of the region(s) served, including interests and activities, so that proposals may effectively reflect that understanding. Lead the development of effective marketing deliverables as needed to support the goals of the region served by writing, editing and rewriting technical information received from multiple SMEs as well as designing graphically appealing materials. Make recommendations on the appropriate marketing deliverables to meet the needs of the region(s), using creativity and a strong knowledge of the marketplace. Using similar strategies and skills as outlined above, demonstrate a commitment to each project and work effectively to get the job done under all circumstances; ensuring that deliverables meet or exceed expectations and agreed-upon deadlines. Ensure that the corporate image graphic standards are continuously used and enhanced in the expression of newly-developed materials. Collaborate with team members to ensure that materials reflect current best practices for visual appeal, effectiveness, user friendliness and support of messaging. Required Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required with a preference for writing or marketing related focus. Must have 5-7 years of overall experience or 3-5 years of proposal-specific experience, including professional writing, editing and/or technical proposal development and processes. Excellent oral and written communication skills; must be proficient in grammar, spelling and punctuation and have accurate proofreading skills. Strong project management and organizational skills, including attention to detail and ability to work with minimal supervision. Strong interpersonal skills and effective relationship building capacity with internal team members at different levels in the organization as well as external partners. Confident, consultative style in expressing opinions in a collaborative work environment. Working knowledge of MS Office Suite applications. Intermediate knowledge of Adobe software, such as Acrobat, Photoshop and InDesign.
