|Job Description :||Position Summary -The Senior Content Strategist will work with the Integrated Marketing & Branding (IM&B) Division of Medical Public Affairs (MPA) to develop content that is useful, well organized, grammatically correct, tailored to users’ needs and in concert with the School of Medicine’s communications objectives. The ideal candidate for the position will possess extensive expertise in the analysis, development and refinement of written content for websites associated with Washington University School of Medicine.Job DescriptionAbility to travel to and from client meetings at the School of Medicine; travel to on- and off-campus locations as needed, per client requirements.Primary Duties and ResponsibilitiesAnalyze user needs and client objectives and develop effective web content strategies to address those needs and objectives.Write key messaging, content strategy, information architecture, and page content for new and revised websites. Work with campus partners to ensure content is user-centric and consistent in style, format and quality. Create taxonomies for grouping and tagging content.Collaborate with IM&B colleagues to provide support for WashU Web Theme users, and to develop training materials and product documentation.Collaborate with IM&B colleagues to identify and evaluate opportunities to reuse or streamline content across the School of Medicine’s website, its secondary sites, and the university enterprise.Collaborate with IM&B colleagues to develop and maintain templates, forms and workflow documents to guide content development, maintenance and distribution.Serve as an expert on and resource for writing for the web; identify, learn, share and implement new industry techniques, practices, technology and literature. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Editorial Services, Executive Director for Integrated Marketing & Branding and the Associate Vice Chancellor for Medical Public Affairs.Preferred QualificationsStrong experience in planning, writing and organizing content for the web; additional experience in features writing and/or print publications is a plus.Experience in collaborating with others in strategic communications.At least two years of direct experience in a health care setting.Mastery of best practices of content strategy and writing for the web.Expert ability to organize complex web content and maintain consistency in voice, key messaging and site architecture; ability to engage in an iterative writing process, negotiate input and incorporate revisions from multiple subject matter experts.Ability to work well with faculty, administration and staff in a matrix organization.Ability to interpret and communicate academic subjects related to medicine and health care to lay audiences.Experience with content management systems and databases.Experience with search engine optimization and search engine marketing practices.Expert level of attention to detail.Experience with web analytic packages.Knowledge of Associated Press style.Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.Experience working in a fast-paced environment.Ability to prioritize and self-manage multiple projects simultaneously.Strong desire to develop new knowledge and professional skills on a continual basis.Ability to work well independently and with others in a team-based environment.A commitment to work within the university’s established organizational structure.A commitment to independent higher education, in general, and to Washington University, in particular.Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications or Marketing.At least five years of professional experience with writing, editing and optimizing content for digital communications.A strong portfolio that demonstrates knowledge in writing and organizing content for the web.Job Type: Full-timePay: $53,900.00 – $92,200.00 per yearBenefits:401(k)401(k) matchingDental insuranceEmployee assistance programEmployee discountFlexible spending accountHealth insuranceHealth savings accountLife insurancePaid time offParental leaveRetirement planTuition reimbursementVision insuranceSchedule:8 hour shiftDay shiftMonday to FridayEducation:Bachelor’s (Required)Experience:writing, editing, optimizing digital communications content: 5 years (Required)Work Location: One location|
