Job Description : 68425BR Content Development & Programming Filmed Entertainment Group Responsibilities Role Summary: Universal Filmed Entertainment Group’s (UFEG) EVP, Inclusion- Talent & Content for Global Talent Development & Inclusion (GTDI) has an opening for a senior manager reporting to the VP of Creative Talent & Content. The Sr. Manager will develop, implement and execute programs, initiatives and practices increasing representation with a lens towards diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI). With a focus on above-the-line talent, the position requires working with global and domestic writers and directors, as well as on-camera strategies to increase representation for actors and voice talent. The Sr. Manager will also perform content assessments for material and/or assets tied to UFEG content. Within this fast-paced rapidly evolving department, the candidate will also partner closely with other GTDI groups: Production Talent & Partnerships which oversees below-the-line talent as well as internal and external partnership; and Communications & Marketing which oversees internal and external communications as well as alumni talent relations. Additionally, the candidate will be collaborating with other NBCU departments on DEI initiatives and work culture efforts. Established in 2017 by Universal Filmed Entertainment Chairman Donna Langley, GTDI became the first-of-its-kind DEI department for a film studio. The business-led group ensures that DEI is at the forefront of Universal Pictures, Focus Features and DreamWorks Animation’s work culture and content creation, both in front of and behind the camera. Building upon NBCUniversal’s overall DEI commitment, GTDI creates industry access and identifies film production opportunities for underrepresented talent while partnering with its Television and Streaming counterparts on efforts impacting both film and television. Since its launch, GTDI has amassed an impressive and inclusive talent pool through its live action and animation writing programs; directing and composing initiatives; and below-the-line traineeships, with 30% of its talent securing production credits on NBCUniversal content. Essential Responsibilities: Perform day-to-day duties in the coordination and execution of UFEG’s writing and directing programs and initiatives, and on-camera strategies. Engagement includes talent outreach and selection process; developing and executing program curriculums; securing guest speakers and associated event logistics; and maintaining strong relationships with all GTDI current program talent, alumni, advisors and mentors, and program partners. Serve as a department advisor/coach to current program participants and alumni; provide notes and guidance to strengthen and enhance participant’s experience and capabilities; and develop, execute and track action plans to create and build career momentum during and post-program. Cultivate strategies to increase DEI representation on-camera, and writing and directing talent pool; meet with partners across NBCU to ideate and share best practices. Identify and meet with external talent (writers, directors, actors, etc.), domestic and international, to consider for programs, initiatives and talent opportunities; log, assess, provide and distribute coverage of incoming talent submissions and recommendations for strategy; contribute to databases and tracking systems for production creative talent. Provide talent recommendations to creative executives for development/production consideration (e.g. GTDI alumni talent, experienced writers and directors not on executives’ radar). Provide DEI notes for live-action and animated content including but not limited to scripts, artwork, cuts, marketing material, etc. Research, identify and track cultural consultants for potential GTDI production recommendations. Provide mid- and year-end stats for female and diverse on-camera talent as well as writers and directors, above-the-line, etc. Contribute and execute strategies to acclimate and encourage creative and physical production executives, film term deal producers to utilize GTDI tools and resources such as, but not limited to, Array Crew. Participate in external and internal presentations and panels amplifying GTDI programs and initiatives. Identify and draft suitable content and artwork for social media platforms including, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram; oversee photo coverage at events and respond to social media inquiries as needed. Timely prepare and process vendor invoices, program contractor timecards, expense reports, etc. Maintain proper recordkeeping and filing system for all work/projects for reference.
