Role Summary The Strategic Content Editor reports to the VP of Custom Content Strategy. The role’s mission is to manage production and distribution of custom content through the company’s websites and related distribution channels, including newsletters, social media, working closely with a Director of Content Performance to ensure optimization of assets and promote engagement. The Strategic Content Editor will manage content produced as part of sponsor packages, as well as evergreen content that serves CRA’s audience across various topic verticals. The Strategic Content Editor works directly with the custom content and performance team, also coordinating with the digital managing editor for distribution through news channels. Along with a strong background in digital media, a candidate must understand SEO and the tactics to optimize quality content to ensure audience growth and engagement. The Strategic Content Editor must be a collaborator, an open and effective communicator who works well across functions, and who is not afraid to engage colleagues to fill knowledge or skill gaps or to improve their work. Duties and expectations Content management duties include ensuring smooth execution of the custom team’s day-to-day publishing into the portal platform; working with the VP of Custom Content Strategy and other staff to plan and to support the roadmap of content distribution; and helping ensure quality of output Audience engagement duties include working closely with the Director of Content Performance and content creators to operationalize and fulfill a primary commitment to audience development —working to manage and improve SEO, driving social media engagement and e-newsletter management and performance, and cultivating a data informed approach to content planning and promotion by responding to metrics in real time. The Strategic Content Editor will also be closely in tune with performance of custom content, pulling the proper levers to ensure audience engagement to meet objectives with guidance from the Content Performance Director. Coordination with the news team, notably partnering with the digital managing editor, to promote integration of strategic content into the day-to-day editorial coverage and distribution channels. Experience and skills 7+ experience in content roles in digital media, including B2B, with hands-on experience designing, building and publishing complex assets across diverse formats. Deep understanding of audience analytics and SEO. Track record supporting growth and engagement of a digital audience. Experience managing and driving growth within the three primary content distribution mechanisms: search, social media, and e-newsletters. Must be versatile and flexible, with strong organizational and collaborative skills; an open and effective communicator who is not afraid to learn on the job. Track record delivering compelling, sophisticated and provocative work, appropriate for a business audience, while also engaging users on human and emotional levels. Strong analytical skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. A curious mind willing to bring critical thinking and system thinking skills to work each day; ability and inclination to ask thoughtful questions, cut through complexity, simplify processes and requirements, and identify efficiencies.
