|Job Description :||The BYU Center for Language Studies “helps learners acquire the advanced language and cultural skills they need for their personal enrichment and for global careers.” We manage language certificates, challenge exams, national testing and other assessment initiatives for BYU’s world language programs. We are also home to 50+ less-commonly taught languages, the foreign language student residence program, the Translation & Localization minor, the Second Language Teaching MA and other language projects on campus. Under the supervision of the CLS Faculty, the English Content Writer will be responsible for organizing and carrying out projects related to creating, reviewing, revising, and editing English-language test items and curriculum for use by BYU Pathway Worldwide (BYU-PW). Available Shifts This job may require up to 28 hours per week. Qualifications Required: MA in TESOL, Linguistics, educational administration, or a related field 2+ years experience in a part or full-time position developing curriculum and/or assessments, teaching ESL students, or in an administrative capacity in language education. Training in the ACTFL proficiency framework (such as completion of an official OPI workshop) Practical experience using the ACTFL proficiency framework to create test items or curriculum Ability to work both independently and with a team, meet deadlines, etc. Project Management experience with the ability to prioritize and complete tasks on more than one project at a time Exceptional professionalism, including excellent communication and interpersonal skills Preferred: ACTFL OPI certified rater TESOL teaching experience, using ACTFL proficiency framework to instruct, create curriculum, and assess student proficiency levels in reading, writing, listening, and speaking Data management experience, including cleaning, analyzing, reporting, and interpreting results Experience analyzing and interpreting data from Classical Test Theory or Item Response Theory Duties/Responsibilities Product and Project management Manage language assessment or curriculum products and projects associated with BYU-PW Meet on regular basis with the CLS faculty and project team, including BYU-PW stakeholders to gather requirements and report on progress Assist in hiring and managing student employees and independent contractors and vendors associated with other specific products and projects Content creation and maintenance Create and test item and curriculum content that are in alignment with the ACTFL proficiency Framework and Pathway specifications. Review, revise, and edit content as necessary Add content to the testing or curriculum delivery system for a given project Maintain products within various technical platforms (Testing systems, Qualtrics, etc.) Miscellaneous Create reports, complete professional development and regular training required by BYU, Humanities, and CLS, and other minor administrative tasks.
