The Web Content Specialist publishes and edits web and other digital content for the University of Minnesota Law School website and digital communications supporting the mission and strategic priorities of the Law School. This highly collaborative role supports the web and digital content needs of all departments at Minnesota Law, liaisons with the Law Information Technology web development team, and works with team members on the Communications and Events team to post, maintain, plan, and create content for internal and external audiences. While physical presence on campus is a critical component, remote work may be considered as a flexible option. This position is part of the Law Communications and Events team and also works with team members, staff and faculty from other Law School departments to identify and customize content for the website, and that can also be shared across platforms, including but not limited to social media, video, and mass email. This position works with the Director of Communications, the Associate Director of Communications, Digital Marketing Manager and others to develop and implement web content strategy, ensuring that it aligns with brand standards, accessibility requirements, and the Law School’s overall marketing strategy. In addition to collaboratively organizing, writing, and editing site content, this position provides support and management to website constituents in other Law School departments and works closely with IT staff to maintain site standards and enhance the user experience. This position also assists with overall planning for the Law School website, maintenance, and organization, and requires forward-thinking about upcoming content needs. This position supports institutional strategic priorities, including student recruitment, promoting research and scholarship of world-class faculty, connecting with alumni and donors, and connecting with the legal community. The incumbent must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously with attention to detail; prioritize and meet deadlines; build positive ongoing relationships; work well in a team environment, and collaborate with a variety of individuals at the Law School and across the University. Salary range: $50,000 – $60,000 annually Responsibilities: Content Strategy, Research, and Brand Strategy 10% Collaborate with Communications and Events team members in defining the web communications strategy for the Law School that is consistent with the overall strategic goals of Minnesota Law Research, identify, and develop best practices for web and digital content that supports the goals of the Law School and the department Implement best practices and serve as primary web editor for the Law School to ensure consistency and quality of content Assist with the coordination and implementation of marketing tactics across multiple communications platforms including social media, print, web, and digital media Ensure that web-based information enhances the Minnesota Law brand and is consistent with other publications such as print materials and digital communications, as well as complying with branding and style guides Web Content Creation, Support, Consultation, and Training 80% Create or support content creation for a range of target audiences that include prospective students, faculty and academics, alumni and donors, the legal community, and the public Act as primary point of contact for communications inquiries and website content updates, providing exceptional and timely customer service response, as well as advising on strategy and best practices Communicate regularly with various departments to ensure site content is up to date and meets online goals and requirements Build new or edit existing web pages to ensure engaging content and layout for a positive user experience Generate and maintain web forms, such as U Card activation, AV request, newsletter request, and more Participate in management of other third-party systems including Web Edition (for our digital magazine), YouTube, TikTok Input information and ensure accuracy for staff and faculty directories on website; collaborate with Law IT to manage and maintain public kiosk directory and student directory Collaborate with Communications and Event staff and other departments to create, publish, and maintain content for internal web (intranet) pages, including faculty, staff, current students, alumni, and recently admitted student Schedule and facilitate end-user training with current and new web editors Analyze, Evaluate, Troubleshoot, and Make Recommendations 5% Troubleshoot CMS technical issues and work with Law IT and/or OIT to resolve them Work with Communications and Events and Law IT to monitor web analytics and provide reports and recommendations to leadership on a regular basis Other 5% Other duties as assigned The University of Minnesota Law School is a leader in preparing students to solve the complex legal, social, economic and business issues of our time.
