Women entrepreneurs face challenges
More and more women are starting a business. According to the US Census Bureau’s annual business survey, there were 6,861 more women-owned businesses in 2018 than in 2017, an increase of 0.6% to 1.1 million. Despite more and more women becoming entrepreneurs, women-owned businesses face a number of challenges.
One of the biggest challenges women starting a business face is performance anxiety, a balance between running a business and other responsibilities such as childcare, and not receiving adequate support.
It is therefore important that women involved in running their own businesses are aware of the support and resources available to help them succeed.
Focused on helping women-run businesses grow
The Women’s Business Summit 2022 is one such resource, designed to provide women entrepreneurs with knowledge and tools to help them build, scale and grow.
The SBA’s Declaration on the Summit describes the goals of the Office of Women’s Business Ownership (OWBO) and notes: “The mission of the OWBO is to empower and empower women entrepreneurs through advocacy, outreach, education and support . Since its inception in response to an Executive Order in 1979, OWBO has provided women with training, counseling, technical assistance, access to credit and capital, as well as marketing opportunities.”
The summit will be presented by Isabella Casillas Guzman, Administrator of the SBA, Natalie Madeira Cofield, Assistant Administrator of the Office of Women’s Business Ownership, SBA, a representative of the Nasdaq Entrepreneurial Center, and other speakers and senior business leaders yet to be be confirmed.
