Twitter raises the price of Twitter Blue from $2.99 to $4.99 per month TechCrunch

Twitter is increasing the price of its subscription service, Twitter Blue, from $2.99 to $4.99 per month. From October, existing subscribers will have to pay more. New users will currently have to pay the increased rate.

Aside from the US, the price increase will also apply to other countries such as Australia, Canada and New Zealand, with new rates of 6.99 AUD (formerly 4.49 AUD), 6.49 CAD (formerly 3.49 CAD) and 6.49 NZD (formerly 4.49 NZD).

Subscribers get features such as unsend that allows you to correct a tweet in a specified time window, custom icons and navigation bar, the ability to change your profile picture to an NFT, ad-free articles within the Twitter Blue Publisher network, and access to top articles published by your network are shared.

Twitter has emailed subscribers over the past few days about this price change. “This change helps us continue to build some of the features you’ve asked for, improve the current features you already love, and support our mission to support journalism,” it said. . Multiple users criticized Twitter’s move saying the current set of features isn’t enough to justify the price — perhaps an edit button could change that mind.

The company first launched Twitter Blue in Canada and Australia last June, expanding to the US and New Zealand last November. Twitter has not released figures on the number of users who have paid for this service and does not disclose separate subscription revenues in its quarterly reports. A report from analytics firm SensorTower noted that Snapchat+, which launched on June 29, 2022, is already outperforming Twitter Blue.
