Vladimir Putin terminally ill? Kremlin laughs away ‘rumours’

A Kremlin spokesman laughed off rumors that Russian President Vladimir Putin may be terminally ill, claiming that Putin is “fit” and is even playing sports.

What Happened: Kremlin diplomat Dmitry Peskov dismissed debilitating rumors about Putin’s health condition after NBC News’ Keir Simmons pointed to a recent clip in an interview in which the Russian president was “limping, shaking and clutching at a table” reported The New York Post.

“What I suggest is that you watch his performance,” Peskov said, adding that Putin spoke for more than three hours and answered questions at the Russian state’s award ceremony.

“I can tell you one thing yesterday, I know, in the afternoon he was actually playing hockey … then just think about his health,” he said.

The comments came as rumors of Putin’s deteriorating health during the Russia-Ukraine war quickly spread on the internet in recent months. Many intelligence sources have also claimed that Putin has cancer, Parkinson’s disease or early-stage dementia.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov also denied rumors that Putin is unwell, saying: “I don’t think any sane person can suspect any signs of an illness or condition in this man.”
