Who is Drew Findling, Donald Trump’s Billionaire Attorney?

It’s hard to keep up with all of Donald Trump’s legal troubles, both in and out of office, not to mention the cast of characters hired to defend the former president. In Georgia, a grand jury is investigating Trump’s apparent attempt to change the outcome of the 2020 election results, including the infamous appeal in which he asked the Secretary of State to “find 11,780 votes.” In this particular legal battle, instead of turning to another haphazard right-wing media pundit to defend him, Trump has tapped into the famous #BillionDollarLawyer, Drew Findling. Here’s what we know about Trump’s new lawyer:

Trump and Findling are polar opposites. According to Findling’s social media presence, he is a pro-choice, anti-mass incarceration advocate who delivers speeches defending cases of battered women’s syndrome. Findling and his new conservative client have one thing in common: they are regulars on Fox News. Findling has shared his legal analysis after appearing regularly on Shepard Smith’s and Bill O’Reilly’s programs (neither of whom are yet on the network). Findling started out as a public defender. He described himself as a “trial attorney representing clients on charges ranging from minor misdemeanors to multimillion-dollar federal conspiracy cases.” Previously, Findling was president of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and currently practices law out of his Atlanta-based boutique, Findling Law Firm. Findling is a famous lawyer. In addition to representing several music artists, including Faith Evans, Gucci Mane, Cardi B, Waka Flocka Flame, DaBaby and Offset, Findling has provided legal services to athletes Shaquille O’Neal and Dennis Rodman. And while #BillionDollarLawyer sounds like it was named by a rapper, the name was coined by Findling himself. Findling called Trump “racist”. In one of his many Twitter outlaws, Trump fixed himself on a LeBron James interview, saying it’s “not easy” to make the NBA superstar look smart. Find responded to the comments themselves: “The racist architect of the fraudulent Trump University who criticizes Lebron, the founder of a free school for children. POTUS pathetic again!”

While Findling has built a reputation for numerous plea deals and courtroom wins, it’s unclear how a criminal investigation of this magnitude will pan out with an unpredictable client who has a tendency to cycle through lawyers.
